If My Instruction Permit Has Expired, Do I Have To Retake The Knowledge Test?

The knowledge test is valid for 2 years from the date it was taken. So if your permit has been expired more than 2 years, you'll have to retake the knowledge test.

  1. Yes. From personal experience in Vancouver, once you have your permit, do everything that you possibly can to get driving school outta the way and then your license.

  2. Yes Tom is right. In my state it lasts 1 year, and not a day more. But you have to have it for 6 months before you can get your license. So if you don't you basically start over. Which means taking the text to get your permit again. http://www.dollardrivingofventura.com/courses.nxg

  3. Most people go through driving school during their teenage years. One thing that I think people should really consider is maybe having a refresher course after having a license after decade or so. This way they can keep up on their driving skills and be up to date on how to stay safe.
